Must-Have Motorcycle Technology Gadgets

We live in a technology driven world. It’s true. If you don’t believe me, then get off your phone and complain in a Facebook status about how I’m misinformed. I’ll be sure to give it a like before I share it on Twitter.

Technology has changed the world, including the motorcycle world. So, with all of the innovation in the tech industry today, there’s no reason why you can’t have some high-end gadgets on your ride. Even if you prefer to go the traditional route and keep to the bare minimum, there are several helpful pieces of high tech motorcycle gadgets out there that many riders (including this one) say have changed the way we ride for the better.

Akari AX-12 Visor Insert

Pop quiz: what’s one of the most annoying things about a visor? Changing it from clear to tinted, of course. The Akari Visor Insert simply takes the touch of a button to look like you stepped straight out of Mission Impossible. The brow-vented shield uses LCD technology to switch from clear to dark crazy fast (in 1/100th of a second), and the USB-rechargeable battery lasts up to 40 hours. That’s a whole lot of hassle left in your dust. Thanks, technology!

BikeMaster Multi-Tool With Sockets

Come on, we all know that having a tool kit in your garage is part of life. But what do you do if you need to hit the pavement?  It’s a little tough to haul around your toolkit, after all, it’s not like you have the convenience of space like cagers do. Enter: the BikeMaster Multi-Tool with Sockets. God forbid you need it, but this multi-tool includes everything you’d need for any quick fix. It includes six hex wrenches (2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, and 6mm), a combo 8 - 10 - 15mm open end wrench, three sockets (8, 10 and 15mm) and a socket driver, all inside one handy gadget that can easily fit in your pocket or saddlebag and not weigh you down. Hell yeah.

Garmin 220 Zumo GPS

If you want a motorcycle GPS, get the one that was designed by bikers, for bikers. The Garmin 220 is a compact, waterproof GPS system with a bright touch screen that’s simple and to the point (none of that frilly, useless prissy stuff), easy to see in day or night, and lasts up to eight hours on one charge. The 220 Zumo’s interface is extremely easy to use (since the last thing you need is a GPS system you’ll be constantly be messing with and correcting...stay shiny side up, my friends). Even better, it will pair to your Bluetooth headset to give you turn-by-turn spoken directions. Cagers are notorious for messing around with their damn phones, all to pull up a map to find their way. But, for those of us who ride, a device like the Garmin 220 Zumo can be a lifesaver! Like, literally.

Headwave TAG Helmet Sound System

We all dig a little tunage while we ride, but streaming music from a phone while on a ride or listening through subpar speakers can take away the enjoyment, am I right? If you’re like me, then this convenient piece of motorcycle tech has your name written all over it. Meet my personal favorite piece of tech, the Headwave TAG. The Headwave turns your entire helmet into a sound system. The Headwave cleverly utilizes your lid’s shell as a soundboard, and, lo and behold, your ride now has true surround sound. As expected from German innovation, the Headwave comes with an internal battery and connects to Bluetooth (Auf Wiedersehen, cords!). And the best part? It's crazy easy to use.

Antigravity XP-1 Micro-Start Personal Power Supply

All of these cool electronic gadgets mean that you're going to need to be able to recharge them. When you’re out on the road, that can be a damn hassle. This device will not only let you do that practically anywhere, but it'll even let you jumpstart your bike. The Antigravity XP-1 Micro-Start Personal Power Supply can hold enough power to start a V8 engine, comes with a complete array of charging adapters (including mini jumper cables), and only weighs 12 ounces, making it easy to stow away and forget about it until you need it. Cool, eh?
