Why did you choose your Harley Davidson Sportster 883R?

As a little girl, I have always been fascinated by the sound of Harley Davidson motorcycles. From an early age, I immediately fell in love with the sound of a passing Harley. But it’s also the appearance of these bikes that attract me. Large, beautifully polished, and fully customized to a rider's own taste, with or without various accessories.

How did you get into riding? What inspires you to ride?

I fell in love with motorcycles because my parents both used to ride a bike before my brother and I were born. They stopped riding from the moment I was born. At home there are scrapbooks full of photos of all the motorcycle trips they took, and I was able to listen to their stories with fascination. As a child, I enjoyed browsing through all those photo albums and dreamed of riding a motorcycle in the future. I knew my dream bike had to be a Harley! In 2017 my brother got his driver's license and on a nice sunny day, he took me for a ride. He told me that he had to go to driving school to pay for his motorcycle lessons. Once we arrived, he surprised me with my first lesson on that day. I was a little mad because I didn’t expect this. However, after the first lesson, I was very happy that he arranged this because I always wanted to ride a bike sooner or later.I visited various motorcycle/chopper events in The Netherlands and when I looked at all those Harley bikes, my eyes fell on the orange Sportster 883R (2003). Once I realized I liked the Sportster line, I searched on the internet to see what model it was, and to my surprise, it also came in matte black! I was sold!

Why did you start your account? (passion project or full-time)

I started this account to meet new people I could ride with. When I had my license, the only people I knew who ride were my dad and brother. I’ve made some great friends and met really cool people on Instagram to ride with. I’m very happy that I’m part of this community.

What would your top tip be for someone getting into riding?

Don’t be afraid of the weight or CC. It’s your friend, not your enemy.

Tell us about the most exciting adventure you’ve taken on your bike

Riding in Austria, Switzerland, and Italy last summer. Riding through some amazing curves and hairpins. We saw some amazing Alpine scenery and long valleys, which makes it a unique experience. Via Instagram, I knew a few bikers who live in these countries. I received information about places and passes that are worth seeing. After I finished my internship at an advertising agency, I received a book with the most beautiful passes in Europe as a goodbye gift. With the help of that book, and all the tips from people I knew, it became clear how my summer would start.Riding at Stelvio was very special because many people advised me not to ride this pass. A Sportster would not be made for this. When you arrive on top of the mountain, you can start to enjoy it. Purely because this was the most challenging pass to ride. This rollercoaster ride involves a lot of zigzagging with a total of 60 hairpins!
