Indian Motorcycles was a company that got its start way back in 1897. That was when George M. Hendee founded a bicycle production company that he named after himself, the Hendee Manufacturing Company. That game plan changed later in 1901, when Oscar Hedstrom built a gasoline engine to power the bike. After that, the seeds had been planted for the company to build a legacy of making making powerful and reliable machines.
