Review of the 2015 Suzuki Boulevard C90T

The 2015 Suzuki Boulevard C90T is about as handsome a cruiser as they come. Swathed in blacked-out features and chrome accents, with a sound that’ll command the attention of passersby near and far, this dark horse is one valiant deed away from becoming a dark knight.

I’ll admit: I initially had some reservations about test riding this downright beast of a machine—it’s 800 pounds for Pete’s sake!—but, in the end, I left feeling confident that riders of all levels would enjoy this ride as much as I did.

For starters, the Suzuki Boulevard is highly reminiscent of the beloved H-D Heritage Classic, featuring a bold leather look, blacked-out forks, and a pair of fully integrated, black hard saddlebags—mimicry is the sincerest form of flattery, right? Sure, it doesn’t have all the shiny tech of a Harley-Davidson, but it’s a commendable runner-up, nonetheless. Plus, what the Boulevard lacks in bells and whistles it certainly makes up for in gusto.

Of all the Suzuki Boulevards for sale, the no-frills 2015 model is perfect for beginners who want to dip their toe in touring without getting completely overwhelmed by a massive dash or all the latest infotainment features. And despite the engine’s massive 1,462cc displacement, the Boulevard’s dimensions will inspire a welcome boost of confidence in all you vertically challenged riders (the seat height is only 28.3 inches!).

After my derrière was finished making acquaintance with the low-slung, leather-bound seat, I was off. I hadn’t even made it out of my neighborhood before I realized how much torque this cruiser is capable of, and acceleration was smooth as silk between all fives gears. Not to mention, I barely had to apply any pressure to the clutch lever thanks to the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS). I wasn’t a huge fan of the floorboards, but they easily folded back into their rightful place, so no harm, no foul.

Since there’s only a single disc brake operating up front, and no ABS system, I would advise against any reckless riding on the Boulevard C90T, because a bike this size requires A LOT of stopping power. Fortunately, everyone was on their best behavior for the highway leg of my test ride, and it was too chilly outside to worry about any of the neighborhood kids darting out in front of me.

All in all, I would absolutely give the 2015 Suzuki Boulevard C90T another whirl should the opportunity present itself. It’s powerful, stylish, and by all accounts a mean machine.

What the Suzuki Boulevard C90T is…

  • A smooth residential, city, and highway ride;
  • Fun, relaxed, and performance-driven;
  • A tasteful homage to the cruisers of the 1950s and ‘60s; and
  • A bike even your lil ol’ grandma would be comfortable riding.

What it isn’t...

  • A lightweight (beginners, tread lightly);
  • A poster child of the latest technology;
  • A fully decked out bagger (despite its hefty size); or
  • The BatMobile, so don’t use it to pursue bad guys or fight crime.
